ORGANIC

The olive groves of Azienda Agricola Valentina Bruschi boasts rare organic integrity. Since 1970, the year of its planting, no chemical has ever been used on the lands of Blufi.

HAND HARVESTING

Why should we employ more people to perform the same job for more time? Because only the human hand can figure out how far to bend a branch without breaking it.

SICILIAN

For centuries, Sicily was the granary di’Europa, not surprisingly. Sun and sea, thermal shock and volcanic soil make the largest island of the Mediterranean Sea the pearl of the Italian agribusiness sector.

HIGH ALTITUDE

What makes a fruit a product of excellence? The perfect symbiosis between plants and environment. At 600m height above the sea level, with warm days and cold nights, the cultivar of Biancolilla expresses the best of itself.

MONOVARIETAL

It is simple, for our Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Monte Alburchia we selected one and only one quality of olive tree, the one that best suits the territory of Blufi; the Biancolilla.

COLD PRESSING

Squeezing the olives of Blufi above 27ºC we would get much more oil but of much lower quality. We wouldn’t put so much care into plants to ruin their oil at the oil mill. We press them at 23ºC.

EARLY HARVEST

We collect the Blufi olives in early November, just before the full maturation of the fruit, the olive is smaller, the yield is lower but a unique taste knows no compromise.

PRESSING IN 12H

Making olive oil is what we do, and what we do we do it as best we can. We bring the olives of Blufi to the olive mill within 12 hours from the harvesting to maintain the typical pungent and velvety aroma.

BEE FRIENDLY

Bees are the most curious animals, they work for us in exchange for a lump of sugar. They are a wonder and we respect them, our treatments never interfere with their habitats and their health, which is ours.

STAINLESS STEEL

We waited a year to see their fruits grow, for hours we have selected them and squeezed. Now we let our oil rest in small stainless steel barrels, protected from light, air and heat.

BIO TRAPS

Our old farmers had already understood everything, even the biological control. To capture the oil fly that can infest the olive groves they discovered a bottle with a sardine inside is enough. Effective and not harmful to bees.

ITALIAN SAINFOIN

Only few plants can collect the nitrogen from the air and transfer it to the soil as tonic: one of these is the Italian Sainfoin and grows wild in Sicily, if it is not this a blessed land…

DIGNITY AND WORK

All our operators, native Sicilian or adopted, are regularly employed and paid in accordance with current trade tables. Plus they make us proud for what they do. Dignity is work.

SUPPORTIVE

We share the best of what we can offer with the less fortunates. Every year devolve 10% of the olive oil produced to a Sicilian pediatric ward. Because nutrition and health are the future.

ART PAVILLON

Valentina Bruschi and her farm support the work of artists and art disclosure. Monte Alburchia sponsors the Museum of Castelbuono and promotes exhibitions on the island and on the mainland.
